The Journey

It started with a simple idea: Bring mindfulness where students are every day

In 2011, Inner Explorer was founded as a nonprofit with a mission of bringing daily mindfulness to education.

Rather than adding another curriculum for teachers to deliver, Inner Explorer built an audio-guided approach that could fit naturally into the school day, giving classrooms a consistent way to practice attention, self-awareness, and emotional regulation together. Inner Explorer’s approach was informed by the sequencing and principles of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), adapting daily practice for students from early learning through high school.

From the beginning, the goal was not simply to introduce mindfulness. It was to make daily practice practical enough to last.

In 2025, Inner Explorer became a hybrid organization, a structure built to grow our impact over time. Inner Explorer, Inc. is a mission-aligned company focused on innovation and reach, continually improving how daily mindfulness gets into classrooms. Inner Explorer Institute operates through fiscal sponsorship with Legacy Global Programs, a 501(c)(3), so donors can fund access for schools and classrooms that couldn't otherwise afford it. Together, they share one goal: daily mindfulness for every student, regardless of a school's ability to pay.

The idea has stayed simple

01

Practice every day

Lasting change comes from small moments repeated every day. Inner Explorer is designed around brief practice that fits into real school routines.

02

Make it easy for educators

Audio-guided practice means there is no curriculum to teach and no extensive prep or specialized training required.

03

Make it available to everyone

Students practice together as a classroom community, creating universal access for prevention and intervention without stigma. Classrooms report a greater sense of belonging and connection.

Evidence from the beginning

Built on practice. Strengthened by research.

Research has been part of Inner Explorer’s story from its earliest years. Studies have examined the impact of daily practice across outcomes including academic performance, classroom behavior, and teacher stress.

Helping more students start from a place of readiness

For more than a decade, Inner Explorer has worked to make mindfulness a simple, consistent part of the school day. The platform has evolved. The reach has grown. The purpose remains the same: help students and educators build the regulation, focus, and resilience that support learning and well-being.
